It might sound strange, but relaxation is a learned response. Believe it or not, it doesn’t come naturally to many of us. Our nervous systems are often in overdrive, and we habitually hold tension in muscles we didn’t even know we had. A prolonged adrenal response leads to adrenal burn out and being “stuck” in the stress response which presents in a myriad of ways such as muscle tension and pain, stiffness, headaches, immune dysfunction, inflammation, insomnia, emotional instability and the list goes on.
Just taking a deep breath and relaxing is easy to say, but can be difficult to do…relaxing can be hard! Restorative yoga aims to help us to break through the “have to get up and do something” response to the “it’s ok to let go and do nothing but breathe” response, and it can take quite a while and a fair bit of practice to finally get it.
So if anyone wants to challenge themselves in this way and reap the unique benefits from this amazing practice, you are welcome to come every second
thursday at 5.45pm for a 6pm start.
The cost is $15 for 90 minutes of bliss.
I supply all the major props required, but it helps if you bring your own blanket or 2, 2 bath size towels and a face washer. I am continually working on bringing deeply soothing music into the room to help bring about a deeper relaxation.
Text to let me know if you are coming if possible so I can have your space ready.
