It’s that time of year again, and we are very lucky to be able to enjoy another Yoga/Ayurveda workshop with Yumi and Leon. Don’t miss the wonderful opportunity to learn from this pair of dedicated and talented teachers in a beautiful location in the mountains of the Sunshine Coast.
Yumi has been practicing under Mark Togni at the Gold Coast Yoga Centre in Australia, and travels twice a year on average to India to expand her practice, advance her knowledge in yoga philosophy and deepen her spiritual path under the guidance of Vijaya Manja. Her passion is to share the light which her teachers have shown her and to assist others to find the true self within. Before she is a teacher, she is a "student with all the respect to her teachers".
Leon has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga in Brisbane for the past 8 years, and is passionate about the wonderful healing benefits of Ayurveda. He is completing his studies with the Australasian Institute of Ayurvedic Studies (AIAS) under the guidance of DR.S Ajit. In 2014 Leon completed his Certificate IV in Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultation and travels regularly to India where he works as an assistant under the guidance of Dr. Shrikanth at his Panchakama clinic in Kollur, South India.
About the Workshops
Yoga: This will be an Ashtanga Led Class with Yumi and Leon. Usually the class is divided into 2 groups: beginners and more experienced. The basics of mantra and practice routines are covered, and philosophy is touched upon. The Asana practice is fully led and guidance given as needed and requested. Please inform Leon and Yumi of any injuries or problems prior to the class.
Ayurveda: This profound science is gaining momentum and popularity rapidly in the west, especially in Australia due to its effective, non-invasive, natural and holistic approach to restoring balance within the mind, body and spirit. .In this 2 hour workshop you will have the opportunity to learn the basic principles of Ayurveda, discover your unique constitution, formulate a daily routine to eliminate accumulated toxins in the body and purification of the mind and senses. You will learn basic cooking methods, and learn to make Ghee and Ayurvedic chai. And of course you get to eat the delicious lunch!
The workshops will be held in the beautiful Maleny Ashtanga Yoga Shala. This Japanese style complex is the home of Jenny and Ian who have built the Shala in order to share their love of yoga and nature with us. Set in the rainforest, there is a beautiful creek and waterfall on the property where you are welcome to swim after the class. There is a spacious kitchen area where the Ayurveda workshop will take place, and a fully equipped yoga studio. There is ample parking around the venue. As it is a shared property, we ask if you could be respectful of others and keep noise to a minimum.
